Music Year 9

At Year 9, Students will learn:

• Guitar skills - Reading tab and playing melodies as well as reading chord charts and playing chords.
• Musical knowledge - focusing on the elements of music. Includes notation and listening skills. 
• Group Performance - students create their own groups and play a song as a member of a group.
• Composition - students will develop simple compositional skills and will produce their own original music. This includes creating music on a program called Bandlab. 

Course Standards

9MUS001 Demonstrate knowledge of music: Students will complete a test to measure their understanding of musical elements, theory and listening skills.

9MUS002 Compose two original pieces of music: Create one original piece of music on Bandlab. 

9MUS003 Demonstrate practical Skills: Student will be assessed on their guitar playing and their group performance.
