Geography Level 2

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Peterson

Geography is the study of how people interact with their environment. It seeks to interpret the world and how it changes over time – past, present, and future.

Level 2 Geography builds onto the concepts we explore at Level 1. There is a focus on social and natural Geography through case studies in Aotearoa New Zealand.

  • The Natural Landscape of the Tongariro Volcanic Centre
  • The globalisation and evolution of Hip Hop music
  • The Ethnoscape (ethnic landscape) of Auckland City
  • Applying Geographic Skills to various contexts.

We offer a trip to the Tongariro Volcanic Centre in Term 1 to undertake geographic research (5 credits) and explore the natural landscape (4 credits).

He aha te mea nui o te ao. He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata - What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.

Recommended Prior Learning

Entry to this course is open, however, an interest in natural and cultural geography would be beneficial.
