Music Level 3
Course Description

Students at Level 3 Music get to choose which standards they would like to complete. There are a range of standards to choose from to suit each student's interests and strengths. These include performing as an individual or a group, researching an aspect of music or creating your own original music.
The components of Music studied at Level 2 will be further developed in Level 3 Music. A high level of skill is expected to be displayed. For example, students completing the performance standards will need to have competent skills in performance. Due to the flexibility of the course, students will be required to be self directed and motivated learners.
At the start of the year, students will learn about the requirements of all standards on offer and spend time carefully selecting which would be best for them and planning their workload based around the deadlines. Students will create their own course consisting of 18 - 24 credits from the standards. Deadlines are given for each standard but can be negotiated with the teacher.
Refer to the "assessment details" section for more information on which standards are available to choose from.

For this standard, you are required to communicate musical intention by composing three original pieces of music that express imaginative thinking. Songwriting may be individual or collaborative. Collaborative songwriting involves two to five students working in a group. Each student’s creative contribution to the song is individually assessed. The three songs, including their lyrics, will be of sufficient complexity to be assessed at this level. Representation includes both audio and visual formats. This includes clearly structured lyrics and chord indications.
This course offers the following optional standards, which will be agreed upon in consultation with your teacher.
