Design and Visual Communication Level 1
Course Description

This Graphics course allows students to develop an understanding of Design and Visual Communication through exploring and presenting design ideas across a range of different contexts. It allows them to develop freehand and instrumental drawings skills, rendering techniques and teaches them how to enhance the presentation of their design ideas.
Throughout the year students will undertake design tasks that require them to use specific design based tools and language including the researched use of an influential designer’s style. The course places an emphasis on enhancing student’s visual literacy and inspiring a passion for the world of design. Students will produce a portfolio of their own design.
At the end of this course, students will embark on Design Technologies and/or Art Design at Level 2.
Recommended Prior Learning
Open Entry. However, it is beneficial if you studied DVC at 10.
