Gateway is a Government funded programme which provides opportunities for students to participate in workplace learning and achieve workplace qualifications while still at school. It is a formalised learning arrangement giving students a head-start to gain employment, (part time and full time), apprenticeships, further training opportunities and valuable networks.

Students are invited to be part of an independent learning courses relating to the area that they are interested in. Students are able to attend placements that fit into their timetables. They must be able to manage their other subjects and catch up on anything missed on the days that Gateway requires them to be away from school. Gateway gives students the opportunity to experience a career of their choice, to see what the requirements of that career are and to plan a pathway to that future, or to discover it was not what they thought it was.
