Next year in 2024, in addition to the core classes of Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Physical Education, Year 8 students also have the following options.
Health Science: Students focus on the science and mechanics of sports, nutrition, and living. This looks at leading a balanced life in not only the physical sense but also in the emotional and social spheres as well.
Technology: Students design and make products from a variety of materials, solve practical problems and learn to work safely Digital Technology: Students learn the basics of designing digital outcomes and computer programming.
Te Reo: Students move beyond the basics covered in Year 7 and into the importance Te Reo Māori pronunciation and protocol
Business Studies: skills for setting up businesses with a focus on legal structure/finance and profitability
Music: Theory/Listening, Composition, Playing Guitar/Ukulele and using music software to create original music.
Art: In this course, they will undertake a project where they will develop skills in drawing, painting and sculpture.
Selected students will be asked to take one (or both) of the subjects below to replace an option subject:
- Literacy – 8LIT (English support)
- Numeracy – 8NUM (Maths support)
